Unit will not power

Unable to enter “Admin” mode

Terminals not associating to AP

1) Improper RF network settings

1) Re-configure the RF network settings (see note 2 & 3)

Unable to connect AP through wired network (telnet or HTTP)

1) Incorrect IP
2) Telent connections disabled
3) HTTP connections disabled

1) Verify IP of AP and retry
2) Connect to AP via serial and enable telnet connections (see note 4)
3) Connect to AP via serial and enable HTTP connections (see note 4)


Notes:

  1. Defaulting AP by shorting pins on serial port
    1. Power off the AP
    2. Using a paper clip short pins 2 & 3 together (see diagram 1)
    3. Power up the AP while maintaining the short on pins 2 & 3
    4. Once the AP boot fully (approximately 60 sec) remove the paper clip
    5. Cycle the power on the AP and connect to it using hyper term via a serial connection (see com port settings)
    6. The new password is “Symbol”

  1. Configuring the RF network (basic)
    1. Connect to the AP using hyper term via a serial connection (see com port settings)
    2. Highlight “AP Installation” and press “enter”
    3. If using a static IP highlight “IP address” and enter new IP and do the same for the gateway, subnet, and DNS.(for DHCP skip this step)
    4. Highlight “NET_ID <ESS>” and enter the name for your wireless network.
    5. Highlight “Antenna selection” and using the left or right arrows change to “primary only” if using one antenna or to “Full Diversity” if using two antennas.
    6. If not using DHCP highlight “.DHCP/BOOTP” and using the left or right arrows change to “Disabled”.
    7. Highlight “Save-[F1]” and press enter.
    8. Press “y” for yes.

  1. Setting WEP keys
    1. Connect to the AP using either hyper term via a serial connection (see com port settings) or via a telnet session.
    2. Highlight “Special Functions” and press “enter”
    3. Highlight “Configure Authentication and Encryption” and press enter.
    4. Highlight the WEP option and using the left or right arrow change to the requires level of WEP encryption.
    5. Highlight “Save-[F1]” and press enter.
    6. Press “y” for yes.
    7. Highlight “Special Functions” and press “enter”
    8. Highlight “configure WEP/KeyGuard” and press “enter”
    9. Highlight “WEP/KeyGuard Key Maintenance” and press “enter”
    10. Highlight “key 1” and enter your WEP key (this is HEX).
    11. Highlight “Save-[F1]” and press enter.
    12. Press “y” for yes.

  1. Enabling Telnet and\or HTTP connection
    1. Connect to the AP using hyper term via a serial connection (see com port settings)
    2. Highlight “set system configuration” and press enter.
    3. Highlight “telnet logins” and using the left or right arrows change to “Enabled”
    4. Highlight “web server” and using the left or right arrows change to “Enabled”.
    5. Highlight “Save-[F1]” and press enter.
    6. Press “y” for yes.
