Notes:
- Defaulting AP by shorting pins on serial port
- Power off the AP
- Using a paper clip short pins 2 & 3 together (see diagram 1)
- Power up the AP while maintaining the short on pins 2 & 3
- Once the AP boot fully (approximately 60 sec) remove the paper clip
- Cycle the power on the AP and connect to it using hyper term via a serial connection (see com port settings)
- The new password is “Symbol”
- Configuring the RF network (basic)
- Connect to the AP using hyper term via a serial connection (see com port settings)
- Highlight “AP Installation” and press “enter”
- If using a static IP highlight “IP address” and enter new IP and do the same for the gateway, subnet, and DNS.(for DHCP skip this step)
- Highlight “NET_ID <ESS>” and enter the name for your wireless network.
- Highlight “Antenna selection” and using the left or right arrows change to “primary only” if using one antenna or to “Full Diversity” if using two antennas.
- If not using DHCP highlight “.DHCP/BOOTP” and using the left or right arrows change to “Disabled”.
- Highlight “Save-[F1]” and press enter.
- Press “y” for yes.
- Setting WEP keys
- Connect to the AP using either hyper term via a serial connection (see com port settings) or via a telnet session.
- Highlight “Special Functions” and press “enter”
- Highlight “Configure Authentication and Encryption” and press enter.
- Highlight the WEP option and using the left or right arrow change to the requires level of WEP encryption.
- Highlight “Save-[F1]” and press enter.
- Press “y” for yes.
- Highlight “Special Functions” and press “enter”
- Highlight “configure WEP/KeyGuard” and press “enter”
- Highlight “WEP/KeyGuard Key Maintenance” and press “enter”
- Highlight “key 1” and enter your WEP key (this is HEX).
- Highlight “Save-[F1]” and press enter.
- Press “y” for yes.
- Enabling Telnet and\or HTTP connection
- Connect to the AP using hyper term via a serial connection (see com port settings)
- Highlight “set system configuration” and press enter.
- Highlight “telnet logins” and using the left or right arrows change to “Enabled”
- Highlight “web server” and using the left or right arrows change to “Enabled”.
- Highlight “Save-[F1]” and press enter.
- Press “y” for yes.
