Symptom 

Cause(s)

Printer will not power

1) Faulty line cord
2) Disconnected line cord
3) Printer circuit breaker tripped 

1) Replace line cord
2) Reconnect line cord
3) Turn off the printer, and the back on

Labels stop feeding through the printer

1) Out of media
2) Label stock loaded incorrectly 

1) Load new media
2) Reload label stock

Poor print quality (light)

1) Darkness set to light
2) Dirty printhead 

1) Adjust the “DARKNESS” pot on the rear of the printer (turn to the right to increase darkness)
2) Clean printhead with either a cleaning card or a Q-TIP and alcohol.

Poor print quality (uneven side to side)

1) The “BIAS” screw is out of adjustment

1) Adjust bias screw either up or down.

Continuous empty/pause fault light (yellow LED)

1) The label mark sensor is not in the correct position

1) Properly adjust the label mark sensor (see figure 1)

The alert LED flashes and printing stops

1) Printhead has overheated

1) Let the printer sit idle until the printhead cools down (printing will resume once the printhead has cooled down)

Printer will not communicate (RS232)

1) Incorrect serial cable
2) Incorrect communication settings (printer)
3) Incorrect communication settings (PC)

1) Replace cable with proper cable
2) Configure communication settings on printer (see figure 2)
3) Configure communication settings on the PC (within the printer driver)
